In 1979 Eleanor rented an apartment on Marine Street in St. Augustine. A painter traveling from Mexico she found a place that fit her desires. An ancient, tropical enclave by the sea. A few months later she met Curt, a newly arrived woodenboat sailor who had traveled down the East Coast from the Outer Banks of North Carolina stopping and working along the way. He too had found a good reason to stay.

From that time, through their years together and the many places they have lived, they have documented their experiences through creative expression. Their story continues here...

Paella and Waterfalls

We left the mountains and arrived on the coast in a couple of hours. I had penciled in Malvorossa on the map earlier while researching the net and we pulled in to a camping that was lush with tropical plants with a funky feel. The beach was washed rocks and we felt like we were in Central America.

On the beach...

With Chloe's departure on the horizon it was decided to return to Sitges in order to revisit Barcelona. The girls went on without me and enjoyed a night in the city. I stayed in camp, finished a sketch, and caught up on my business in the midst of a wild weekend. We had not seen many people at camping being early in the season but with a bank holiday... it really ramped up.

Chloe's going away dinner

Reluctantly we took Chloe to the airport to be greeted with a terminal full of trash. Shredded newspaper ankle deep everywhere. It was strike of the cleaning workers who were protesting, blowing horns and making there point about austerity and wages. Thousands of travelers were plowing through- dragging piles of trash with their rolling bags. Chloe made her flight and we headed north having struck camp early.

We decided to head back to the Pyrenees and found ourselves in the small town of Torla at the base of Ordesa National Park. Jaw-dropping mountains, crystal rivers and long treks. We have stayed four days and are finding it hard to leave...
