In 1979 Eleanor rented an apartment on Marine Street in St. Augustine. A painter traveling from Mexico she found a place that fit her desires. An ancient, tropical enclave by the sea. A few months later she met Curt, a newly arrived woodenboat sailor who had traveled down the East Coast from the Outer Banks of North Carolina stopping and working along the way. He too had found a good reason to stay.

From that time, through their years together and the many places they have lived, they have documented their experiences through creative expression. Their story continues here...

The Train to Bilbao

Note: This post didn't make in out due to spotty internet service. It was written after the post 'Basque Country' on June 6...

To get in striking distance of Bilbao we checked-in to a hotel on Gernika-Luma (Guernica) where Franco permitted Hitler to level as target practice on 1937.

The small train rattled us toward downtown Bilboa and we transfered to an electric tram toward the Guggenheim. We wondered at Frank Geary' masterpiece, a great show of David Hockney's work, and the mind-boggling permanent installation of Richard Serra's huge tortured-steel sculpture. In my opinion this would be worth a trip to Spain.
